Henk’s European Deli & Black Forest Bakery

For some time new Lena and I have been interested in finding a good German Foods / Bäckerei since we’ve moved down to Greenville. This last weekend, we had the opportunity to go exploring in Dallas and stopped by a place called Henk’s European Deli & Black Forest Bakery. We were very impressed with their production selection, including some of our favorite German schocklade. Despite how busy they were, thanks to the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on Greenville Avenue (which is a supposedly a huge event, and we’re sad we missed it), we decided to stay and grab something to eat. Lets just say we hope to be there again sometime soon, just for the food! Not to mention their wide selection of German beers on tap (hey it was after 12… I think…). The sad part is, we would have spent just as much for lunch had we gone to Subway or something like that. In addition to lunch, we ended up grabbing some Butterkeks, Fleisch Salat, Curry Ketchup, and a few other misc items. Since it really isn’t that bad of a drive past say Town East Mall, we hope that we’ll have the ability to stop by there quite often (their breakfast menu had to many things that would probably be well worth the drive). So, if your looking for a good German/International foods store in the Dallas TX area, or if your just interested in trying something outside of typical American fair, then definitely give Henk’s a try! They are over at 5811 Blackwell St. in Dallas TX, right next to the original Half Price Books Store.
