Video: Ask a Ninja – Net Neutrality

Unfortunately, with my life being so busy, I haven’t had a chance to talk much about “Net Neutrality“. For those who don’t know, the major Internet Services Providers (whom don’t want Net Neutrality) have come up with a way for themselves to “recoupe the cost of high bandwidth services”. Their original claim is that they simply want to cover the costs of such services as video, voice over IP (I.E. Vonage like services), and so on. Unfortunately, any such model could lead to abuses, allowing those same services to try to control what you get to browse. So for example, google.com, amazon.com, and myspace.com are currently very popular – resulting in those ISP’s thinking they have a right to ask those sites for money in return for their customers getting full (and unthrottled) access to those sites. If they don’t then they throttle your bandwidth, slowing your access down. The reason the Internet has enjoyed as much success as it has is because this type of system does not exist. Unfortunately, these companies have big budgets, allowing for lobbying of legislation to allow them to do such a thing. I highly recommend you visit SaveTheInternet.com or contact your state representatives and let them know that you don’t want the Internet destroyed. Now the other reason for this post, is because I found a great video online called “Ask a Ninja”, talking about Net Neutrality. Actually, despite the satire, he comes up with a good comparison of what the ISP’s want. Just remember while your watching this, that if the ISP’s have their way… you may not be able to watch this in the future – unless YouTube.com pays up.

Here is also another video posted on SaveTheInternet.com, that explains in terms better than I can:
