I think I’ve finally had it with rude people in movie theaters to the point that I have absolutely no problems telling to be quiet, and getting theater management if they continue to disrupt my attempts to see a movie. I don’t understand where people have gotten the idea that chit-chatting, having a conversation on the phone, or kicking the seats in front of you are perfectly fine. The part that I find the most infuriating about this slowly worsening trend, is the fact that the worst offenders are grown adults.
Today I went go see “Chronicles of Narnia” with Lena, and for most of the movie everyone was pretty good. Until about half way through, I started hearing comments from behind me including an occasional kick. Then, someone most have thought the movie was going to slow because a repetitious tapping noise emanating from the left side of the theater. I later found that the comments coming from behind me were from a lady old enough to be my mom, and the only people sitting on the left side of the theater were those whom fit the same category.
I don’t know if most people are this way, but when I’m watching a movie in the theater, I become totally immersed, and every thought of what is occurring around me disappears. Until one of these disturbances come about, from which I’m ripped back into reality and find myself trying to get back to where I was. This destroys the movie watching experience for me, and there have been some instances where the disturbances were so bad, I don’t even remember what half the movie was about.
So, if you are one of those who think that it’s perfectly find to make these kinds of disturbances in a movie theater: Sit down, shut up, or stay home…
