Saint Patrick, and Benny, and…

Well, today I wanted to write about something that I found very interested yesterday on Saint Patrick’s Day… First I want to mention, before I start rambling, that I am what you would call a “European Melting Pot”. The strongest of them being Irish, Scottish, Belgian, and British ( my grandpa was even a quaker, before he married out of it… ). So either way if you notice I have a little bit of a moral delema when it comes to certain things that involved one country or another. Last night my wife, her best friend, and I went to Jack Quinn’s to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, only to find a line around the block ( only because it’s the well known pub in town ), so we proceed to head to the WayFarer ( which in my opinion is a MUCH better pub in the first place )… Only to find that there was a scottish pipe band playing and selling CD’s. Now the funny part here, until another person in the same position as me, asked why I was raising my glass to amazing grace. We then got into a great discussion about how most american’s don’t know the difference between Irish and Scottish pipes/bands and most american’s don’t even know that there are English/Brittish pipe bands… I had to explain though, because she thought I was just as uninformed, that I have a little bit of both, but I clearly knew what I as raising my glass to… Now the reason why we found this so funny is that St. Patrick’s day has NOTHING to do with the scotts or the brits… but, the uninformed crowd cheered for the scottish pipe band, non the less…
